Bhutan Entry Formalities & Visa

Bhutan follows a set of strict rules when it comes to tourism. Indians can enter Bhutan with an entry permit (with a validity of 7 days) issued by the Department of Immigration at Phuentsholing. However, citizens of nationals except India need to present an e-visa and copy of their passport before entry into Bhutan. Tourists are advised to always carry their valid documents while travelling in Bhutan which needed to be presented when asked by the officials.

Visitors willing to stay in Bhutan needs to pay a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF). The SDF fee used to be $200 per night for an individual which now have been slashed down by the government to $100 per night. This change in price is going to be on effect till August, 2027. SDF charges for the citizens of India have been set to ₹1200 per person per night. Children with aged 5 years or below are exempted from the SDF charges in Bhutan.
