Geography & Climate of Bhutan

Bhutan is one of the most isolated countries nestled in the foothills of the Himalayan range in south-central Asia. Known as the Himalayan kingdom, Bhutan shares an international boundary with China in the north and India in the South. More than 70% of the country is covered with forest which led Bhutan to become the first country with zero carbon emission in the world.

Bhutan is spread across the land of 38,394 sq km which includes diverse climatic conditions across the country. The southern part of the country has subtropical climatic conditions with an average temperature of 15-30 degrees Celsius. Whereas, the northern part of Bhutan consists of cold alpine conditions with a temperature as low as -2.5 degrees Celsius.
