Unlike other countries, Bhutan still follows the ceremonies and performs rituals that have been practised for ages. The country is also renowned for its traditional weaving techniques that use sheep and yak wool to produce Bhutanese textiles. Festivals are one of the most important parts of the Bhutan tradition where all the communities and ethnic groups come together to witness the various events and religious performances. Thimpu Tshechu

Thimpu Tshechu is the national festival of Bhutan that is celebrated on the 10th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar. The festival is famous for various music and dance events including world famous masked dance.

Jambay Lhakhang Drup Festival

Regarded as one of the main festivals of Bhutan, the Jambay Lhakhang Drup festival is celebrated in honour of Guru Rimpoche. The festivals include dance performances and fire ceremonies that attract tourists in huge numbers.

Punakha Tshechu and Drubchen Festival

Punakha Tshechu and Drubchen festival is one of the most unique festivals of Bhutan. It is celebrated to pay tribute to all the villagers who came forward to protest and drive away the Tibetan soldiers from Bhutan.

Paro Tshechu Festival

One of the most popular festivals of Bhutan, The Paro Tshechu includes a dance performance of monks dressed in vibrant coloured clothes. The festival is also known for showcasing the 350-year-old Buddhist religious scrolls known as Thangkha.

Matsutake Festival

Matsutake Festival is a type of harvesting festival of mushrooms that is celebrated by the locals of Ura Valley. Tourists can relish local cuisine and a variety of dishes made by the local people.

Nimalung Festival

Nimalung Festival is one of the most vibrant festivals in Bhutan that is celebrated with various traditional folk dance forms including masked dance. The festival is celebrated in the Bumthang valley which showcases the rich culture and unique traditions of Bhutan.
